How can I create a pocket milling on the PCB (Z-milling, flat milling)?
The Gerber format or ODB++ do not provide for direct pocket milling (Z-milling, flat milling). Elements of the board outline and inner cut-outs are always milled through completely.
Therefore, create an extra layer in the large layer dialog in TARGET, which is given a user layer function, i.e. which has a self-created name that is meaningful, e.g: MillDepth30mils
Draw a closed polyline with the desired outline shape into this layer. Use a thin line width, e.g. 1 mil. However, this is not visible in the 3D view.
Now inform your PCB manufacturer in writing in the order that the areas in this user layer should be milled flat from the front side or from the back side. Some manufacturers can produce this.
